You breathe in, you breathe out, and everything you know is gone.

Sara Walker knows firsthand what it feels like to have your reality ripped away, scrambled, and shoved back at you in an undone puzzle where pieces are missing and nothing fits. She's lost so much and is struggling to live and to find the strength to forgive herself for being human. With the help of Lincoln, her husband's brother, Sara realizes it's not about finding who she used to be, but about finding who she is now.

You breathe in, you breathe out, and everything you know isn't gone, but reborn.

**My thoughts**

This is probably one of the best books that I have read this year. I knew it was going to be emotional for me to read, simply by looking at the blurb when the book tour review opportunity presented itself. I was blown away by how good it actually was. I was compelled to read the entire thing in one sitting. I tried to put it down to do other stuff, but couldn't. I even ignored other people around me until I was finished.

Sara is a complete mess as she tries to come to terms with the loss of her husband. Actually, for over half of the book, she isn't trying at all. Loved ones are forcing themselves into her life, trying to make her come to terms with everything, including alleviating her own guilt. She is completely shattered and your heart aches for her.

I felt more connected to her, because on some level I could relate. No, I didn't lose a husband, but I did just mark the two-year anniversary of my father's death a few days before I started to read this. I remember the broken feelings inside, the guilt of wondering what I could have done to prevent it, the pain of watching others move on when I couldn't, the responsibility of signing those papers. At the same time, I was ever so grateful that I was able to care for myself better than Sara could. I never came close to the depths of despair that she plummeted into when her husband was ripped away from her. But her pain was still quite familiar.

I think this book is going to strike a chord with anyone who has had to deal with a loss as traumatic as Sara's, particularly with as many as she had lost in her short life. I think most readers are going to pity her, yet want to shake her to her senses, just as her friends and family do to her. You're also going to root for her to figure it all out. I defy any reader to not cry at least once while reading it.
